We got together with Alyson and Jeff on a chilly fall day, to snag some casual engagement photos! They took advantage of our Try Us On special by scheduling their engagement shoot with us, and because they also booked us for their wedding, they got to keep the engagement photos at no charge. The weather at the park was beautiful, and there was plenty of fall color to play with… and we even had pumpkins on hand to pose with! They started the session trying to look more sedate and composed for the photos, but Jeff–or as Alyson likes to call him, “El Jefe”–is apparently pretty notorious for not keeping a straight face in photos. But, we LOVE it when our portrait clients loosen up and clown around during a session, so we captured some parent-pleasing photos, and the spontaneous shots that showed them as the clever, funny, and utterly non-serious people they are when they’re together.

We’re really jazzed to be the photographers shooting Alyson and Jeff’s wedding this coming Fall. It’s shaping up to be a blast, and we’re sure it’ll be anything but ordinary… just how we like it.

Headshots for Professionals

Say hi to Melissa, who recently came to us for her professional headshots. She’s been in training to become a wedding celebrant, and she’ll be embarking on a new path, and starting her own new business! Headshots that show her refreshing and warm personality were the order of the day, and we had an especially good time working with her during her session. We’re glad she came to us, and we’ll definitely be letting our future brides know about her!

Kyra becomes a bride – portrait, event, and wedding photography in Portland, Oregon

We recently joined Kyra and Aaron for their wedding at the Arista Ballroom in southeast Portland, and had a great time getting to know the ladies of the wedding party, as they prepared for the ceremony. Kyra had a relaxed group of bridesmaids and friends who kept the mood light while she transformed into a gorgeous bride.

More bridals, and makeup!

Here’s another bridal session that, unfortunately, had us cooped up indoors while it poured rain outside. But, the mood was light in the studio, and Olivia was a quirky and fun bride with a great sense of humor.

This was also a great time to highlight the work of one of our Partners, makeup artist Sabrina Cayne. She’s done amazing commercial and fashion makeup for us before, and she also does truly lovely work for brides and bridal parties! Sabrina provided makeup and hair for Olivia’s shoot, and did a great job of bringing out her natural beauty and creating a regal look. She’s a wonderful artist, and we really can’t say enough about her!

Bridal Portraits: Jessica

Our session with Jessica was a two-part session: we started by shooting some lovely, softer close-ups in our studio, to capture a bit of elegance. Then, Jessica switched to an edgier up-do, and we moved out to the Broadway bridge, and got some great outdoor shots with the interest of an urban industrial backdrop. Jessica was a sweet and radiant bride, and we had plenty of passing cars honking in approval while we shot on the bridge. Sometimes, you can’t help but love this town!

Another taste of bridal

Here’s a quick taste of our bridal session with Jessica. The weather forecast was dicey that day, but we got a nice surprise of bright sun in the afternoon, so after some in-studio close-ups, we took her out to the Broadway Bridge, and turned more than a few heads along the way!

Our bridal sessions can go in a lot of directions, so if pretty flowers and church windows aren’t quite your thing, we can take you to places that are a little grungier, quirkier, or simply more You. bridal portrait session: the playful side

The second half of Aimee’s session was originally going to be a Trash The Dress session, where she’d be playing in the river water! But, despite the sunny conditions, the winds were blowing hard and freezing cold that afternoon, so we had to skip out on her diving into the water. But, she did dip her toes in and play around, so we still managed to trash the dress a little!

Bridal portrait session: part Dramatic

We recently worked with Aimee on a bridal session, and here’s a peek at the first part of our session. We warmed up by doing some lovely portraits of her, fully decked out in her dress and veil, and we used a stretch of river in Sellwood and a peek of the afternoon Portland skyline as our backdrop. We timed it just right for getting great natural light that gave a fresh and bright feel to the portrait, but could also give us some shadow for a more dramatic look.
