Actor With a Side of Model – model portfolio and headshot photography in Portland, Oregon

Andrew came to us ready to kick-start his career as an actor, and was also open to modeling, so he chose one of our model portfolio packages, and we tailored the looks to fit his goals! We made his actor’s headshot our first priority, because he’s most interested in acting, and we brought in our stylist partner Tabiba Styles to make sure he had a clean and polished look from start to finish. We also explored looks inspired by commercial, fashion, and athletic styles in-studio, to show his potential in different areas of modeling, while still playing to his relaxed and easygoing attitude.

He also chose to order comp cards through us, so we hooked him up with a clean comp card layout, and a batch of 100 cards printed on high-quality stock! We’re always ready to provide headshot prints and comp cards to our clients, and we make it affordable, so you can get the most for your investment, even if you’re new to the industry. If you have several shots you love after your session’s over, ask us about our rates, and we’ll gladly add it on to your package.

For Alec – a fashion benefit

Filed under: Uncategorized — enkophoto @ 12:33 am
We’re very excited to be involved in For Alec, a fashion show to benefit 2-year-old Alexander Martinez, who was diagnosed with cancer just a few months ago. What started out as a modest production to help raise money for his cause has grown into a major event, drawing out generous donations and production assistance from major Portland businesses such as LaikaCMD, and The Benson Hotel.
Needless to say, we’re really glad to be pitching in as part of the production, and we hope you’ll join us at the show on February 28th, and lend a hand to this cool little guy in his time of need. 🙂

Two-year-old Alexander “Alec” Martinez was diagnosed with cancer in November 2008. His parents, Vananh and Stephen, are very familiar with the disease, as Vananh successfully fought ovarian cancer last summer. Two months later, their son underwent his first surgery for a grade III Ependymoma brain tumor. With the hope and support of his family and friends, Alec will continue his long road to recovery.
To make a contribution, visit any Bank of America branch and ask to donate to the Alexander Martinez Medical Fund. Your donation will go directly to the family to help with medical and living expenses.

Special Places

Carla and Travis chose to have their wedding in a place that was familiar and of special significance to them: both the church and the reception hall were on the campus where they first met. The grounds were full of sloping hills and gorgeous greenery, and made for some lovely portraits, both artistically and sentimentally speaking! These are just two of the bride and groom shots we did with them.

Plus-Size Fashion

As much as I enjoy “straight-size” fashion, I’ve always had a soft spot for plus-size models. As a normal-sized woman who’d be considered “plus-size” by the fashion industry (plus models sometimes run as small as a US Size 8, when the average woman is Size 12!) I’ve always felt that there’s much more to beauty than what your average magazine likes to portray. There’s health, vitality, and beauty in all shapes and sizes, if you open yourself to it.

So, when I found Christine’s just-started online portfolio back in January, I was excited to set up a shoot with her. She had the striking face and gorgeous proportions that I felt really exemplified plus-size beauty, so I wanted to get it out there as much as I could!

And now, 7 months after shooting with her, I’m happy to congratulate her on her first published credit as a model! Christine was selected by PLUS Model Magazine to tell the world What She Loves About Her Curves in the new September issue, so readers across the country will be seeing her face, and hopefully taking a cue from her curvy-and-proud outlook!

The magazine also chose to use a photo from the shoot I did with her, so I’m also happy to congratulate hairstylist Amy Vaillancourt-Sals, clothing designer Leanonsidhe Reminiscent, and accessory designer Beauty and the Bead! I brought this team together with the hopes of pushing the boundaries and presenting a look not often seen in plus-size fashion, and it looks like we succeeded!

I’ll be working with Christine again soon, along with another amazing plus-size model, so I’m looking forward to keep putting new spins on full-figured beauty!

Little Things

Filed under: Uncategorized — enkophoto @ 11:46 pm

After working with this couple on their engagement shoot, we knew we’d have a relaxed-and-groovy time shooting their wedding! It was an intimate ceremony with the couple’s closest family and friends, but working with such a close-knit group brought a fun and relaxed feel to the event.

We also had the pleasure of carpooling with our friend, partner, and videographer, Katie Rasmussen, who did a great job capturing the events of the day. She brings a laid-back energy and professional skill that we think is a perfect fit for the couples who most enjoy working with us, so we were glad that they brought her on board for their special day.

We heard more than once during the toasts that the happy couple always showed a wonderful, honest sense of fun with each other, and we couldn’t agree more. They’re a quieter couple, but they have a streak of silliness with each other that comes across in all the little things they do. They were easy and fun to work with, and they didn’t blink at the more quirky ideas we came up with. If we’re getting to pose a bride and groom on top of a concrete whale? It must be a good day!

More photos after the cut!

Hanging Out and Rocking Out

Filed under: Uncategorized — enkophoto @ 7:51 pm

I needed a bit of time away from my post-processing this past Sunday, so I hopped on my bike and dropped in on the runway casting for the third annual Rock the Runways event. It was great to see our friends from Semper Fashion and Style Is So You, and also to meet new members to the team, like Wendy of The Shoe Club!

I think the best part, however, was finding out about the models and designers who are involved in this year’s event. Some of my absolute favorite models were at the audition, and one of my favorite designers, Laura of Revivall Clothing, will also be showing her designs in the show. I’m definitely jazzed that people who have shared such great shooting experiences with me will be bringing their awesome talents to Rock The Runways.

Rock The Runways also holds a special place with me, because it was my first time shooting runway. Last year’s event was a kick, and I have a feeling this year will be even better! It’s on August 16th at The Civic, so be sure to save the date!

Housekeeping

Filed under: Uncategorized — enkophoto @ 6:35 pm

We’ll be working on some cool upgrades over the coming weeks, both here at the blog, and on our website. We’ve gotten more than a few compliments on our current site, but we’re always looking to make the experience better, so the new changes should make it easier for you to browse our photos, and find the information you’re looking for.

If you happen to drop by the blog or the website, and things look a bit off, don’t worry! Chances are, you’ll be able to refresh the page a couple minutes later, and it’ll be all patched up.

Otherwise, expect more awesome photos to come later in the week!

Twilight Picnic

We had a really fun family shoot yesterday, with a mother and daughter in matching retro outfits, and gorgeously-detailed, pinup-inspired hair. We did some studio shots first, and we were a little concerned that the daughter would be shy in front of the camera, but she surprised us by being completely into the shoot. She even hit some adorable pinup poses of her own!

The really interesting wrinkle, however, came towards the end of the shoot, when we ventured outside. They’d brought some really cute props for a picnic theme, and we wanted to do that set outdoors, but the sun was getting pretty low in the sky by the time we finished in the studio. But, my brain was saying, “we must have grass! Trees! Nature!” so I grabbed the power pack and we took off for the park post haste.

The sky at twilight added a lot of interest, and it made for a pretty unique picnic shot. I knew that we’d already taken some great studio shots, but I was really happy that we were able to give them something a bit more unique, too. The two of them also had a great energy that came through in all the shots, so it was a lot of fun to just work with them and see them interact!

These folks are also the proud owners of Cherry Redd, a retro boutique with plenty of fun clothes and accessories, both for kids and adults. If you’re passing through Salem, be sure to pay them a visit! (feel free to tell them we sent you!)
